As we live here on earth, we tend to focus on achieving our own goals in life. These goals may be to earn more money, to buy a new car, to own a house, to travel around the world, to possess luxurious items, and a lot more. Getting all of these might be our standard here on earth, but things change when we continue our lives in eternity. All worldly possessions of our will vanish in an instance.
Eventually, our values in life will start to change as we begin to reflect on things. Then, we will choose to focus on our spiritual growth rather than on our material growth. All of these changes may not be based on the community standards, but 100% based on God's standards. We need to do all of these to prepare us in our lives for eternity.
